Zion, Bryce, & Grand Canyon National Parks

4-Day Road Trip

Day 0: 

​

  • I flew into Las Vegas late the night before and got an airbnb near Zion. That way I could start the morning of my first day fresh!

​

​

Day 1:

​

  • Zion National Park Visitor Center: park there, must shuttle bus into the park during summer- pack everything you need for that day. 

    • Hike Angel’s Landing: 5.4 miles, 3-5 hours- trailhead is The Grotto: stop #6 on shuttle

    • Hike park of the Narrows: walk in the water in between the canyons- bring water shoes: stop #9 on shuttle

    • Emerald Pools Hike: lower fall- 1 mile round trip (middle and higher were closed when I was there): stop #5 on shuttle

    • Back to car park: stop #1 on the shuttle​

  • Drive to Canyon Overlook Trail Hike: 1 mile round trip

  • Drive to Bryce Canyon National Park (2 hours from Zion)

    • Drove the Scenic Drive: 33 minutes, 18 miles one way- I drove to the end and stopped at the overlook points on the way back (I recommend doing it this way).

      • Stops along the Scenic Drive: Rainbow point, Yovimmpa point, Black Birch canyon, Ponderosa canyon, Agua canyon, Natural bridge (so cool!), Farview point, Paria view, Bryce point (one of my favorites!), Fairyland point, then Inspiration point (gorgeous!)

    • Drove back to Inspiration Point to stargaze at night- one of the best places to stargaze; it was amazing!

Day 2:

 

  • Bryce Canyon National Park:

    • Hiked Queens Garden Trail--> Navajo Loop Trail--> ascends up to rim/ known as the world’s best 3 mile hike: I did this during sunrise- it was gorgeous!

    • Saw Sunrise Point and Sunset Point  

      • Sunrise Point: only 1/2 a mile from the visitor's Center and where Both Queen's Garden and Rim Trail meet

      • Sunset Point: Farther South along Rim Trail

 

  • Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park:

    • The most freeing feeling is running down a huge sand dune in the middle of the desert!

    • $10 park entrance fee even with the USA National Park's Pass 

  • Lake Powell's Wahweap beach, Wahweap Overlook:

    • No lifeguards (swim at own risk)

  • Glen Canyon Dam

  • Antelope Canyon:

    • Ken’s lower antelope tour - $52 per person/ 1 hour tour

    • You can only can bring clear bag, cell phone, & water

  • Horseshoe Bend: 1.5 mile round trip, quick 20 minute walk each way/ $10 parking fee

  • Drove 2 hr 45 min towards the Grand Canyon/ I stayed in an Airbnb 30 minutes from the hiking trail for tomorrow.

Day 3:

 

  • Grand Canyon National Park 

    • 19-mile hike:

      • Start at 6am

        • South Kaibab trail down

        • Bright Angel trail back up

        • All in all, about 10 hour hike

      • Park at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and take the Orange Bus

        • Bus every 30 min from 4am-6am

        • Bus every 15 min from 6am- until 30 min after sunset

      • Safety Note: There is no water until mile 12, so you must take 5+ liters each with you

  • Airbnb for the night outside of the Grand Canyon

Day 4:

 

  • Drove to Flagstaff, AZ

    • ​Explored that cute little city for a bit! 

    • Brunch here!

  • Hiked Humphrey’s Peak (Arizona’s tallest mountain peak) 

    • Hard Hike:10.3 miles total

    • Uphill for the whole first 5 miles, rocky hiking path (must wear hiking shoes)

    • All in all, about 6+ hours

      • There are a few false summits- keep on hiking past them to get to the real summit!

  • Overnight flight back home out of Phoenix, AZ!
